You appear to be a fresh breath of air with regards to what is wrong with the current system. Good for you. I don't mean to be hurtful but religion is no longer a relevant topic to be discussed in politics concerning government. As a god fearing Republican I have recently seen the light and this light did not come from God but from men. We are in trouble I mean real trouble and a third party that actually represents the citizens needs to be born and this party needs to take over the white house. We are living an allusion of lies and controls that only monkeys should have been subjected too. This control has warped everyones sense of reality and the education system is what it is a poorly designed unimpressive baby sitting tool for legal slaves or employees feeding the rich behind the scenes. So yes, peoples views on such can change, but imho, that falls within the domain of scriptures, and the Holy Spirit for Christians, more so than spirited debate on the internet. About all we can do is present our views as we see them, correct any blatant errors if need be, and then leave it up to God. Next, I actually debated on whether to include homosexual civil rights, and abortion issues in this post, and decided against doing so, as they are incredibly polarizing, plus folks views tend to be pretty locked in stone. Yet, after your comment, I do very much think they were worth discussing, but perhaps best handled in stand alone posts, not sure if its best dealt with here, or on my theological blog... need to figure that out. And yes, politics is very much connected with fiscal matters, whether it be public funding of domestic parters benefits, same sex or not, and or public funding of abortions, prenatal care, child care, or end of life issues. I wish it were not the case, but it is the world we live in. Mike Huckabee was a pastor, and yet his speech was focused rightfully so on finance, as thats the domain politics runs in. Both parties drive public policy via funding or lack there of... it is a rare issue indeed that is not finance driven, even constitutional matters sadly are finance driven more so than the higher calling they really should be held to. There are no easy answers. Even if all the lobbyists were run off of K street.... finance would still run the show.
