Feedback, even negative feedback is so incredible powerful in a wide range of venues. But it is also scary. The first time I ended up in the lion's den with a few hundred angry netizens in full attack mode was scary for sure.. Now, while its still scary a bit, I value the feedback immensely, so much so, I volunteer for all the "fun" stuff.

My guess is the push for retroactive immunity falls into gray areas of the law, which could lead to protracted court time or worse. Then throw in the likely hood of a significant swing in constitutional value sets in the executive branch, and they are paranoid, and rightly so.

Good analysis.

Did you notice that McCarthy's statement is closed for comments. They don't want your opinion ... nor the facts ... just to promote their agenda. What's that expression - the lie becomes the truth only when someone comes to believe it. The uninformed become believers ... fear-mongering is an effective tool.

The only issue is Amnesty for the telecoms.
I suspect that the new law gives them all the legal protection that they need for any actions they perform after the law takes effect .... why do they need retro-active immunity unless they did something wrong?

Any good prosecutor, as Mr. McCarthy's bio indicates, would not want some legislative body taking away his "tool" to obtain the truth.
